Setsuro Tech Inc. is a biotech startup that originated from Tokushima University and was founded in 2017. The company's mission is to “create an industry that solves problems for both you and the planet by harnessing the potential power of living organisms”. In 2015, Tatsuya Takemoto (Chairman & CTO) and his team at the University of Tokushima developed a method for easily and efficiently producing genome-edited mice (JP 6980218). In addition, Shun Sawatsubashi (CSO) and his team at the University of Tokushima developed the VIKING method for high-efficiency genome editing in cultured cells (JP 6956995). Additionally, Setsuro Tech Inc. has developed its own novel genome editing factor, called ST8 (JP 7113415).
Our company provides innovative genome editing technology and contributes to the further development of the industry, people's health, and wellbeing. We use proprietary technologies to offer contract genome editing services to researchers in academia and industry. Our goal is to provide genome-edited organisms to a wide range of industries and to advance the genome editing industry.

Initiatives for Animal Experiments
Setsuro Tech Inc. provides education and training to our staff responsible for animal experiments. This enables them to acquire knowledge about proper experimentation, breeding, and storage procedures concerning experimental animals and improve their expertise. In addition, the Animal Experimentation Committee established within the company ensures that the animal experiments conducted comply with Japanese laws and regulations as well as the company's basic guidelines for animal experiments. The head of the R&D department reviews animal testing plans, receives reports on the implementation of animal testing, education, and training, and internal inspections, and takes corrective measures as necessary.
The Laboratory Animal Facility at Tokushima University, where our company keeps and manages experimental animals, adheres to the guidelines of the National Council for University Animal Experimentation Facilities and is dedicated to animal welfare. Furthermore, we hold an animal memorial service to express our gratitude and respect for the laboratory animals that have been sacrificed for our research activities.
